Blue Skies & Golden Ginkgo
Strolling Sakuragawa’s Golden Ginkgo
The beauty of fall in Japan is something that I hope everyone can get a chance to behold. In this season, the leaves of the green Ginkgo Biloba tree transform into a piercing golden yellow. They’re really stunning and I would be as bold to say, that these magnificent trees rival cherry blossoms in their beauty. What makes them even more valuable to me is that they come at a time of year when the sun sets early and the cold has begun to settle over the city.
Today, I was lucky enough to have both the time and my camera with me on a bike through Sakuragawa. It’s still amazing to me the amount of life and vibrancy these golden ginkgo trees bring to an area. Train tracks and factories lined with rows of the trees take on a new energy. Everywhere I walk I can’t resist looking down at the beauty beneath my feet. I feel like I should start skipping down the yellow leaf road or something. (Ruby red slippers optional).
If you have yet to make time to go outside and appreciate these golden beauties, do so quickly! Today the leaves were falling fast and in no time, they, just like this gorgeous season will be gone. Enjoy them while they last.
