Multiple Ride Card – Osaka Transport
What’s the best train ticket for my time in Osaka?
Depending on your length of stay in Osaka and your plan while here the best train ticket for you may be the prepaid Multiple Ride Card. The Multiple Ride Card does just what the name suggests. It allows you to ride all subway, new tram and buses in the Osaka area. With this card you can save precious travel time by avoiding single ride ticket lines. In addition, this card provides a small discount.
The adult ticket price is ¥3,000 but is good for ¥3,300 worth of transport. For children, the ticket is ¥1,500 for ¥1,650 worth of transportation. Each time you use the card, the remaining credit is printed on the back, making it easy to keep track of how much you have left. The minimum credit required to enter the ticket gates is ¥180. If you under ¥180 left on your Multiple Ride Card you can put the card back into the ticket machine and add the remaining amount in order to purchase your ticket. I personally use the Multiple Ride Card, more than any other train card as I tend to use the subway more than the train lines. The one drawback I found with this card is that unlike the plastic ICOCA, this card is thin and a bit easier to misplace.
To buy the Multiple Ride Card go to any subway station’s ticket machine.
Select the English button in the upper right corner of the machine.
On the screen, select Card.
Insert ¥3,000 into the bill slot.
After inserting your money, select Multiple Ride Card.
Then press the ¥3,000 button below the screen.
The pass takes a couple of seconds to print and voila!
You’ve got yourself a ticket for your next ¥3,300 worth of rides.
